Weird People? - Thursday 1/3/2002 8:00 am EST

That's all I have to say.

There's this one guy that moved into Phil and Jin's old room. His name is like really long and he had his door closed while playing some circus music or something weird.  Everyone's anti social or something.

And Guru, that guy that moved into your room, his name is Yuning or something weird like that... we haven't seen that guy either.

Everyone has signed up for Blogger... I think I'm gonna switch to it very soon, perhaps this afternoon.

Happy New Year - Tuesday 1/1/2002 6:15 pm EST

I really have nothing to say... but "happy new year".  There's absolutely nothing to look forward to.

Here's the thing.  PP will switch out into blogger very soon.  So far I got the names Backstab, Tommyboy, Avatar, Guru Mike.  The rest of you need to check your mail for that confirmation thing.

What sucks even more is that the Waterloo crew (except Guru) is going back on the 2nd.

p.s. Guru said he has done a report on NerdFest 2001.

NerdFest 2001 - Sunday 12/30/2001 9:17pm EST

Yesterday was NerdFest 2001 at Guru's house.  It turned out that nobody survived the hardcore Diablo II marathon, Liston being the closest one to finish as he left the game at River of Flame.  The characters were drawn randomly off of a hat... I got barbarian, I was kicking some serious ass until some unique dude in the beginning of Act II somehow killed me in one shot. Anyhow, it was all good fun, we took a few pictures of the roomful of computers we had at Guru Mike's family room.  They should be up soon.  A full report on NerdFest 2k1 will come up in a day or so.

BOH SELEKTA (IMPORTANT POST, ALL STAFFERS PLZ READ) - Wednesday 12/26/2001 1:25pm EST

BOH to me, in a week or so, Polaris Prime is gonna be elite. ELITE because we are no longer going to be posting by uploading this page into tripod, but will be filling out a simple textfield and clicking on a submit button.  This is gonna be a lot better, I can assign new posters, without giving them the password of the site $$

Now I'd like ALL YOU STAFFERS to do this. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Sign up an account on www.blogger.com .  This is very important because you need an account to post on the new Polaris Prime.  Once you've registered, please tell me your LOG IN NAME, so I can set you up as a poster on the new Polaris Prime.  Once that's done, I'll tell you to do a test post.  The basic layout of the new PP is basically set up, at https://polarisprime.tripod.com/temp

Failure to do so within the next 5 days, I'll boot you off the staff. :P I will be changing the password once the new PP is up.

Last but not least, not mandatory, but it is advised that you should sign up at the new forum.  Some weird shit sometimes comes up on the forum.

One Fine Christmas - Christmas Day 2001! 5:30pm EST

Yes indeed. This is one fine Christmas. I've been thoroughly enjoying this holiday season, even with the lack of snow. I heard Buffalo is getting hit hard.

I've set up the Ask part of the site. It's on the side bar too. I'm free to answer questions about the site, admin, content, life in general, etc.

I'm impressed with the new forum.

I'm happy to say I've passed all my courses. I'm EXTREMELY happy I got a B+ in discrete math. (85%-90%)

I almost pissed myself when I saw the PP awards. Is there gonna be a ceremony? If so, it ain't gonna be at my house. hahahaha.

Tycho Brahe, quite possibly the coolest name on Earth - Monday 12/24/01 11:23pm EST

Well, I’ve been home most of today. It’s a first for me since I got back a week ago. Your probably thinking, “where the hell has the Guru been?” Well, my week has consisted of Super Smash Bros melee on GameCube and Risk 2210. Also I’ve been hoboing at Liston’s place. *sigh* I disgust myself.

Continuing in Risk news, I finally won a game. $$$. Liston after 10 long years of battle has finally taken back Australia. I, in compensation, completed my control of the moon. I’ve held the Tycho moon territory for all 10 years. And Knobody, ya like that Frequency Jam eh?

Well curiosity got the best of me today and looked up Tycho on google (god bless google). Here is who and where you probably heard of Tycho. Physics! Dark Ice was right, Tycho Brahe was an astronomer and guess who he assistant is? Kepler! Now if you’re a dumb like I am. Tycho is a cartoonist from Penny Arcade. Go there now!

Still job less

Oh and I’ve took the liberty of fixing the penny arcade link. Please make sure it remains that way.

I think I’ll start working on some site design ideas.

Thoughts are drifting

Polaris Prime Awards 2001 - Monday 12/24/01 6:30pm EST

I was a little bored so I made a pop-up window that plays some drum and bass tune that I like at the moment.

Even more so I was going through the news archives and I made a list of posts which made the Polaris Prime Awards this year.

Damn, that board game Risk 2210 AD is addictive.  I'm not joking either... yes yes, it's a board game, but once you start, you won't stop.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope you have a somewhat decent new year.

Merry Christmas - Monday 12/24/01 11:30am EST

Well this being Christmas Eve and everything I thought a Christmas message was in order! First note, where has everyone gone, it seems when everyone comes home the posts just stop. Other than that, CS marks are up for those interested. I sent out the address to those who it applies to but I lost the address or else I would post it.

Well I do want to wish everyone the best for the holiday season and new years. And start posting!!

Fellowship of The Ring - Saturday 12/22/01 11:30pm EST

I finally saw the movie today at First Markham.  I think the director did a pretty good job with it.  The movie definitely lived up to its hype. Unnecessary scenes were omitted and the stuff they added in flowed well with the movie, without changing the storyline very much. I really liked how the movie depicted Middle Earth, pretty accurate in fact.

The characters were generally well done.  One of the things I thought they didn't do well enough was that they did not really introduce the background of the characters.  Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and Boromir sorta just jumped into the Fellowship out of the blue.  I guess they decided not to have that to make the movie flow better.  Also, it seemed to me that Legolas really stood out in that movie with his bow, Gimli was almost non existent.  Many scenes in the movie were quite emotional, they did a very good job with Boromir at the end.  I thought he was an asshole when I read the book in Grade 10, but in the movie, you'll feel for him.

All in all, this is definitely one of the best movies of the year.  I give it a 9/10.  You gotta see it if you haven't.
